With Taste! Italians and Food. A relationship between 1970 and 2050, M9 inaugurates a new season in its narration of Italy’s history and material culture. The first major temporary exhibition in an ambitious three-year
programme offering visitors an unprecedented reflection on identity related topics of the Italian culture and collective experience, Taste! The Italians and Food 1970-2050 transforms the third floor of the M9 Museum into a large laboratory of knowledge and exploration of everything that binds Italians to taste, food and conviviality.
Conceptually linked to the section in the Museum of the 20th Century’s permanent exhibition entitled The Italian Way of Life and to a narration of cuisine elevated to the pinnacle of the home, this exhibition rediscovers the paradigm of Italian history and its development in the present and future – with a gaze that is engaging, thought-provoking and surprising.
The exhibition is accompanied by a calendar of workshops, tastings, guided tours, conferences, talks and other dedicated initiatives.
«We did not want a stiff, academic and clinical exhibition but one that would be expressive, intelligent and profound, unbridled and fun, full of broad-ranging inspiration – and packed with love and life. One centred less on the doctrine and more on the spirit of a people who when feeling unwell can still remember the fragrance of a lemon and smile, and who take pizza into space.»
